Check out the March Issue of Arab Health.

In this issue, you will find an article by cristine.kao that discusses the potential for big data to create impressive operational efficiencies. Imaging data is being generated at the bedside, from modalities and from patients. The challenge now is to harness this information and organize it in ways that make actionable data readily available to clinicians who can use it to improve patient care.

"While there is great potential, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to deploy big data effectively within healthcare organizations. Key challenges are:

  • Establishing an IT infrastructure that can handle large volumes of data and support very high speed data transfers
  • Deploying a management system that can handle varying data types and sources, verify the quality of captured data and address the inconsistency of some data.
  • Maximizing value by applying the clinical insights gained from data into practical uses that can drive the quality of care"
